FAQ
How many photos do you get?
A. It's hard to put a number on this because it changes so much based on the number of people in the family, poses, timing, participation, etc. At minimum you'll receive 50 edited photos in both color and black and white delivered via online gallery with unlimited downloads. However, the number of photos usually ranges from 60-80 and I never toss great photos! If they are clear, quality, unique photos - they'll be in your gallery.
When should you book a maternity session?
A. I recommend to aim between 30-33 weeks. At this time, most women have a great bump, aren't super swollen yet, and usually don't go into labor that early. With that said - you make the rules here! If it isn't your first, you may want to do these earlier. If you want these photos to be used as a pregnancy announcement, you may want to do these earlier as well.
When should you book a newborn session?
A. I recommend booking a date 3-8 weeks after your due date. Once baby arrives and everyone is home and healthy, we can adjust as needed. I'd say half of these get rescheduled for one reason or another. For this reason, I schedule newborn sessions on weekdays and always leave space for reschedules.
Can grandparents come to our newborn session?
A. Short answer? Yes! I typically recommend grandparents get their photos when you are finished with your family photos. This ensures kids make it through the most important photos first. Sometimes, having grandparents arrive after an hour can give older siblings a little boost. If you are planning to add more than 1-2 people, please chat with me ahead of time. We may need to add time and it may come with an additional fee depending on the size.
Can you do an outdoor newborn session?
A. Yes! A few things to consider would be weather, dressing baby appropriately, and making sure mom has recovered enough to get up and down from the ground.
Can you do a newborn mini session?
A. First, what are mini sessions? They are short - 15 minute sessions back to back in one location of my choice. I usually do these once per month throughout the year and they vary based on season. Can you bring a newborn to them? Yes! I've had a few families do this and make it work. However, timing out newborns can be tricky with feeding, sleeping, changing etc. so you won't get the variety of images you would get with a full newborn session. Click on the mini session tab to see what's coming next.
If you're looking for a smaller investment or a shorter session, I'd recommend a half studio session. I offer these on weekdays at North City Studio in Shoreline only.
When do you get your photos back?
A. My turnaround time is 3 weeks.
